The Hale Hubner Treehouse Cottage is ideally suited for couples, friends, and small families seeking a tranquil escape where you can fully embrace the Volcano lifestyle. This charming hideaway also welcomes kama'aina looking for a peaceful respite. Nestled amid the lush hapu'u ferns and ohia rainforest, our location offers both comfort and privacy while keeping you close to an array of attractions that Big Island has to offer.

Spanning 750 sq ft, this cozy studio-style cottage features 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom, accommodating 2-4 guests comfortably. The warm pine wood interior beautifully contrasts with the vibrant greenery visible from the expansive picture windows throughout the space. Step outside onto the spacious lanai for breathtaking views of the night sky.

Your sleeping arrangements include a master bed area thoughtfully walled off for privacy, along with a queen-size futon that unfolds in the main living area for additional sleeping space. Please note that the main living/sleeping area is located on the second level, accessible via stairs, which may not be suitable for visitors with mobility challenges. For families planning to stay with us, we kindly ask that there is at least one adult per child.

Situated at an elevation of 4000 ft within the majestic ʻōhi'a and hapu'u rain forest, the climate in Volcano may surprise you. Expect cooler temperatures, ranging from the upper 70s during the day to the low 50s at night, especially during winter months. Be sure to bring warmer clothing to fully enjoy your nighttime volcano viewing experience. A jacket or rain poncho will also come in handy for outdoor activities, as occasional rain showers are not uncommon.

While we provide electric heaters and heated mattress pads, the Treehouse Cottage is most comfortably warmed by our inviting wood-burning stove. If you're visiting between December and February and have concerns about using a wood stove or are sensitive to cooler climates, feel free to reach out before booking to discuss your needs—our Fern Cottage, also in Volcano, features a gas stove and extra insulation for added warmth.

For your convenience, we supply starters, kindling, and wood for your first night, particularly for late arrivals. You'll find stores in Volcano Village and the national park offering firewood and additional starter supplies.
