Additionally, expect to hear Coqui frogs chirping at night, which may be disruptive for light sleepers.

Regarding safety, it’s common for guests to ask about volcanic activity. The residential areas near the park are classified as low-risk lava zones, with no recorded flows in Volcano Village for over 100,000 years. The active eruption zone from the 2018 incident was located about an hour's drive away, while the recent Mauna Loa eruption poses no risk to inhabited areas.
