Just step onto the deck and gaze down to find the soothing Pacific Ocean gently lapping against the shore just 100 feet below you. It’s not uncommon for guests to fish right from the deck, making this property truly unique among vacation rentals in East Hawaii.

Conveniently located just a couple of miles from charming Hilo, the seat of Hawaii County, this location offers an incredible experience, particularly during whale season. Witness majestic humpbacks breaching and playing so close that it feels like they are performing just for you. The cove below may also welcome schools of spinner dolphins that can be seen swimming in the crystal-clear waters. Take in the sight of surfers gracefully riding the silver waves at nearby Honoli'i Beach or watch large cruise ships sail past your home, lit with thousands of twinkling lights at sunset.

Built from Redwood and constructed in a single wall style, this home features pocket doors instead of traditional swing doors. Though some modern updates have been made, it retains all the authentic character from its original construction in the 1950s.

Perfectly positioned, the house is only a 40-minute drive from Volcanoes National Park and a brief three-minute trip from the heart of Hilo. You’ll have the best of both worlds, being able to explore East Hawaii while also enjoying a scenic hour and a half drive to the beaches and town of Kona.

One of the perks of staying by the ocean is the absence of pesky mosquitoes. The refreshing ocean breeze cools your space while keeping them away. Unfortunately, coqui frogs have made their way to Big Island, creating a nighttime serenade with their chirping, which is typically kept at bay by the ocean air. While you may hear some sounds, they shouldn’t disrupt your peaceful experience.

The spacious kitchen and living room come equipped with picture windows that frame stunning ocean views and look across the bay towards Hilo Town. The master suite features a king-sized bed and french doors leading out to the deck, complete with an outdoor shower, while the second bedroom hosts a full and a twin bed. Both upstairs rooms include large televisions for your entertainment.

Your living area boasts leather furniture and a cozy gas fireplace for those rare cooler evenings. We intentionally left the living space free from television screens, encouraging you to engage with the spectacular views, enjoy conversations, or play family games available for your enjoyment. However, high-speed wireless internet is available throughout the home should you need to stay connected. Binoculars are provided for spotting whales, surfers, dolphins, and more.

The expansive deck showcases a large teak dining table, ideal for alfresco meals surrounded by the beauty of the ocean. Once you savor oceanfront dining, you may find indoor meals less appealing. Additional dining options exist in the living room, as well as ample seating for entertaining guests. For relaxation, enjoy teak lounge chairs and a comfortable hammock, perfect for swinging to the sound of the waves while stargazing.

Your fully equipped kitchen includes extensive granite countertops, a double-door stainless steel refrigerator with water and ice maker, dishwasher, garbage disposer, and a Keurig coffee maker stocked with a selection of coffees. It also features a microwave, blender, rice cooker, slow cooker, toaster, and range, along with plenty of dishware for all dining needs. Coolers are available for your island excursions.

Outside, you'll find a kayak, life vests, boogie boards, and snorkeling gear, ready for your adventure in the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Tennis rackets and balls are also provided, along with various beach games to enhance your stay.

It’s important to note that some vacation rental listings may exaggerate proximity to Hilo; however, any genuine oceanfront property in lower Puna will likely take a minimum of 50 minutes to reach.
