Hale Mana is a legally registered vacation rental home with the County of Kauai and the State of Hawaii.

1. Please Be Good Neighbors: Keep noise levels low, especially before 8:00 am and after 9:00 pm. Outdoor lights should be minimized at night to appreciate the starry sky and protect local wildlife. Only three vehicles are allowed on the property; there is ample parking available, and driving on the lawn is acceptable. For guidance on neighborly considerations, please contact Thomas.
2. Beach Safety: Be cautious of surf conditions. The shorelines face vast expanses of open ocean, which can produce dangerous waves during winter and summer storms. Always check with lifeguards at nearby beaches before entering the water.
3. 911: For fire or medical emergencies, dial 9-1-1. The address and phone number of the house are posted inside near the entrance. For non-emergency assistance, contact the Police Dispatch at Wilcox Hospital in Lihue.
4. Weather: Heavy rain can lead to flash flooding. Exercise caution when driving during such conditions. Be aware that severe weather may temporarily close main roads out of Hanalei.
5. Disaster Emergencies: Our Civil Defense sirens are tested on the first business day of each month at 11:45 am. If heard at other times, tune into AM radio station KQNG (“KONG”) for real-time updates. Emergency supplies are located in the garage.
6. Emergency Escape Route: In case of fire, exit downstairs bedrooms via the sliding glass doors. For upstairs rooms, utilize the main stairs and exit through the front or back door, then call 911 as soon as safely possible.
7. Security: Although crime in our area is rare, always safeguard your belongings by locking valuable items away and securing doors and windows when leaving the property.
8. Beach Access: The beach below can be accessed via the public trail located just east of the home. Consult the map in the information binder for details and respect signage around the property.
9. Farming Activity: As you are staying within a working farm environment, expect potential noises and sights associated with farm work.
10. Island Driving Etiquette: Kindly observe posted speed limits and pull aside to allow faster-moving traffic to pass if necessary. If lost, remember that Kaua'i is a small island, and you'll find your way easily.
11. Tsunami Zone: Despite being situated high above sea level, please be aware that the property's proximity to the ocean places it within a tsunami zone. An evacuation route map is displayed by the front door and included in the house binder.
