With a spacious queen-sized mattress and a large bathroom equipped with laundry facilities, your stay promises relaxation. The living room flows seamlessly into a full kitchen and a sunny dining area, all within 500 square feet of cozy living space.

You will have exclusive access to the entire cottage and carport, surrounded by a pristine native forest that enhances your experience of nature's beauty. For your convenience, self-check-in is available, with a lockbox code provided on the morning of your arrival. Remember to remove your shoes before entering, as is customary in Hawaii.

Prepare delicious meals in the fully-equipped kitchen, featuring a Keurig coffee maker with complimentary coffee and tea. An in-unit washer and dryer add to your convenience during your stay. Since the Volcano area experiences frequent rain, with over 120 inches annually, we recommend packing a rain jacket, long pants, and warm socks. We provide two small umbrellas for your use, and though the cottage may occasionally feel musty, our dehumidifier, ceiling fans, and heater work effectively to keep the space fresh.

Enjoy outdoor living on the expansive covered lanai, furnished for morning coffees and evening conversations, complete with a propane fire pit for warmth on cooler nights. You'll be surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the Pu'u Maka'ala Natural Area Reserve, home to the unique wet koa and 'ohi'a forest that supports Hawaii's rare birds and plants. Please note that you may encounter some local wildlife while enjoying the outdoors, including pheasants, spiders, and mosquitoes.

The household tap water comes from fresh rainwater collected on-site, filtered, and UV treated; however, if you prefer bottled water, please bring your own. As resources on the island are limited, we kindly ask guests to conserve water whenever possible. We will communicate any necessary propane deliveries during your stay to ensure your cooking needs are met.

The town of Volcano, situated about a mile away, offers restaurants and local convenience stores, although prices may be higher than those in Hilo, Kea'au, or Mountain View. We recommend stopping at these locations for supplies before arriving at your peaceful rainforest retreat.

We appreciate your cooperation in turning off all indoor and outdoor lights and appliances before your departure. Please ensure that all doors and windows are locked and that dishes are cleaned and stored properly. Return your keys to the lockbox and scramble the numbers for security before leaving.

Please note that we have a strict no-smoking policy within the cottage. Any evidence of smoking will result in a claim and a reimbursement request for damages. Additionally, if you lose the keys, there will be a lockout and replacement fee.

We comply with TAT and GET State taxes of 14.75%, included in your nightly rate. As a licensed Short Term Vacation Rental registered with the State of Hawaii (STVR Registration Number 19-358255 and NUC No. 19-1012), we strive to maintain a high standard for our guests. By booking this unit, you agree to adhere to our guest policies, leave the premises tidy, and understand the non-refundable cleaning fee.
