Summary: We recently stayed at this VRBO in Kona, and the highlight of the property is, without a doubt, the lanai. We spent most of our time there, soaking up sunsets and enjoying the ocean views. If you love outdoor spaces and don’t mind spending your vacation mostly outside, this place might suit you well. We found the inside of the house very musty/dusty, it is definitely something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to dust or allergens. We knew it had no AC, but we had to make a Walmart run to buy air-purifying spray. We also ended up buying two large box fans since the ones provided were either too small, didn’t work, and were very dirty. For the price of the rental, we expected better upkeep. We messaged the host asking if there were options for us if we decided not to stay due to the dust leading to sinus issues for one of us. We were told they needed to speak to the owners, but unfortunately, we didn't hear any further so just dealt with it best we could. If you’re all about the view and are okay with the quirks of tropical living, this place has its charms. But for the price, be aware of the trade-offs. This rental could be perfect for sunset lovers and lanai enthusiasts, but travelers with allergies or higher expectations for cleanliness and upkeep might want to explore other options.
