Summary: First, the location and the view from this home is spectactular! The waves crashing off of the lava cliffs is beautiful and a reson we always stop through Hilo on a trip to the islands.Unfortunately once you get inside the house the experience changes. The house is clean and safe but looks to be in the same condition today as it was when built many years ago. The amenities are dated and the house needs updated in most ways.A major issue that I had were the excessive fees so please look inot these before booking. The expenses were lumped into two categories, fees and the VRBO fee. The two fees accounted for 86% of the total bill and this did not include taxes, if you include taxes the fees and tax were 117% of the booking fee for the house. Another home we stayed at had a fee ratio of 29% vs the 86% here. I don't know if this is the owners or their rental company but I would either reduce the fees or take some of that money and upgrade the place.It is a beautiful view though!
