Summary: This is our second stay at Hale Romantik and obviously we loved it the first time. Romantik is perched right on the edge of an 8-10 foot cliff which falls away into the beautiful Pacific. We marveled at the thunderous waves crashing into the cliff below and spraying 30 or more feet into the air, sometimes landing on the lanai roof. It is definitely a spectacular (and fun) display by Mother Nature when rollers occasionally come ashore. Don’t be put off by it – embrace it. We did!! The main part of the house is very well appointed. It has a nice kitchen with all the normal appliances and a large refrigerator with a great ice maker is very welcome, also.Romantik has two mirror image master bedroom/bathroom areas. Both have king size beds. These areas are separated from the kitchen/living room by large sliding glass doors with shades that crank down for privacy, if needed. There are no ceilings in the bedrooms, so sound drifts up over the walls, but the air circulation is improved in and about the high ceilings. The bathrooms have conventional ceilings for privacy. People seem shocked about how far Hale Romantik is from the Kailua-Kona nightlife. Don’t they look at online maps??? People also mention the winding switchbacks of the last 3 miles to get to Hale Romantik. Just show a little aloha to oncoming traffic and all will be fine. We highly recommend Hale Romantik for a couple who want to really get away, or for two couples who know each other well.
