Beautiful sunsets over looking the ocean just 200 ft from the oceans edge with everything you need for a quiet relaxing Hawaiian vacation. Full kitchen, full bath and private lanai. Even comes with an outside shower for the true tropical experience. Located halfway between Kailua and Volcanoes National Park making the 1 1/2 hr drive from the airport well worth it. We live down a windy road with spectacular views of the ocean but keep your eyes on the road as the turns can be quite sharp. Ocean access 2 blocks away or a pool when waves are to high. The rocks at the base of our ocean access Underwater are shaped like steps with a metal bar for stability. It can be a little intimidating at first but offers excellent snorkeling when winter swells allow. No pesky sand to get all over you. But if it is a beach that you want we have a beautiful black sand beach just 3 miles away. A little over 2 miles away is Milolii fishing village. The oldest working fishing village on the island. From there the beach is a diverse scenic 1/2 mile hike in. No facilities so take water and sunscreen. To the north about a 1/2 hour to 40 minutes gets you to Ho’okena beach. Another beautiful black sand beach with bathrooms and solar showers. Or stay on the highway for another 15 minutes and go to Pu’uhonua O Honaunau State Park (place of Refuge ) for Hawaiian history of the area. Right next door is 2 step. Great snorkeling. Staying on the beach road you come to Kealakekua where the Captain Cook monument is but is only accessible from the water. If you head south on the highway from our house you can visit South Point with it’s powerful currents and fishing history. Just east of there is the Green Sand beach. A 45 minute hike or these days there are shuttles with varying prices. Well worth the effort for such a rare find. Or you can go straight to Volcano National Park, an 1 1/2 hr drive from the house. On the way I recommend stopping at Punalu’u Beach to view the turtles usually sunning themselves or swimming close to shore. After that there is Hilo town and the waterfalls. Or you can stay home and watch whales from the lanai or the cliffs out front. Dolphins often do morning swim bys. We offer snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach chairs and cooler. We are here to help but if privacy is what you want you won’t even see us We have been living the island life for about 15 years building our dream house. A lot of love and aloha has gone into developing this property. Aloha is the Hawaiian word for love, peace and welcome. That is what we want to share with you.
