Summary: Check-in and everything was fairly smooth and relatively easy. The property is a bit confusing at first, but we got the hang of it. The part we weren’t expecting, was being greeted with a strong fish smell that punches you in the face as soon as you walk into the unit. The place REEKED of fish smell. It was so unpleasant, and there wasn’t anything they could do about it. We tried cleaning the microwave/oven vents, whatever we possibly could that would hopefully get rid of it. Opened all the windows and doors to air it out, but then the AC turns off when the doors are open, so then it got hot. The place was also not thoroughly cleaned. Black hair in the showers, floors were dirty, microwave was dirty, papasan chair looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Had stains, & tons of dirt/dust in the button holes. We requested an extra sheet to put over that, which sufficed for us. Communication with the host/property management company was pretty good and responsive. I would say they were pretty quick to get things that we needed and sent staff to fix items that we informed them were not sufficient or working (clogged sink, slider screens not on track, the smell, etc etc). I’m not sure what/if they tried anything for the fish smell, but it definitely ruined it for us & made us not want to be in that unit. Not sure if I’d rent that unit again or not. Upsides: it had a great view, and the rooms were huge. Beds were fairly comfortable, pillows not as much.
