A House of Healing for Over 150 Years in Haiku-Pauwela, Hawaii

Welcome to A House of Healing for over 150 years! This charming traditional Hawaiian plantation-style farmhouse, built in 1870, is nestled within an acre of lush agricultural land featuring vibrant gardens and a serene pond. Historically significant, this residence was home to the first doctor serving the plantation workers, making it a meaningful part of Maui's rich heritage.

Your stay includes access to two private suites, each with a dedicated exterior entrance, ensuring your comfort and privacy. Stroll through the property where you’ll find flourishing Lilikoi vines, ackee, noni, multiple varieties of avocado, grapefruit, Tahitian lime, cashew, and mango trees. Feel free to enjoy any seasonal fruits during your visit. Don’t forget to check out our honesty farm stand located at the front, offering fresh, ripe produce right before you enter the long driveway.

The tranquil pond is home to koi, crayfish, and various frogs, so be mindful of your step as night falls. Adding to the local charm, you will also encounter a lively family of wild free-range chickens, especially active during the early morning hours, providing an authentic experience of life on a rural Hawaiian plantation.

Amenities include ample parking and a prime location that places you near stunning beaches, rejuvenating spas, exquisite dining venues, captivating hiking trails, and breathtaking waterfalls. The house features spacious lanais, and each suite is equipped with a mini refrigerator. If desired, dishes, flatware, a toaster, electric kettle, and French press can be provided upon request. Additionally, we offer laundry services for a nominal fee and grocery delivery options to pre-stock your mini fridge—simply reach out to us with your preferences.

The base rate is for one queen suite, ideally accommodating two guests, while a pack-and-play infant crib is available for families traveling with young children. In line with our sustainability initiatives, we encourage guests to bring their own toiletries; however, we keep Dr. Bronner's soap and other basic essentials in each room should you need them. For convenience, we have a mini-van available for lease during your stay, along with airport pickup and drop-off services for an extra charge, if necessary.

We strive to make you feel completely at home in our delightful Hawaiian retreat. Upon your arrival, the porch light will guide you, and we will greet you personally to provide door access codes for your stay. Jeremy, our multi-talented "fixer," resides on-site and is just a text away if you require assistance or repairs during your visit. He also takes care of the gardens to ensure everything is perfectly maintained.

Please note that there are two accessory buildings on the property: Jeremy's bungalow and a pottery studio, which hosts a small homeschool pod three days a week. These facilities are not accessible to guests. Our dedicated housekeeper ensures that a generous supply of fresh linens, blankets, and towels is ready for you. You will also find extra beach towels, gear, and yoga mats available on the back porch for your enjoyment—feel free to help yourself to whatever you may need.
